Ad Hominem Fallacy

a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attributes of the person making the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.

Logical Form:

Person 1 has a vested interest in Y being true.
Therefore, Y is false.


iii)Guilt by Association

De ductive reasoning is the process of reasoning from multiple statements (premises) to reach a logically certain conclusion. It is sometimes referred to as top-down logic which actually a counterpart to inductive reasoning, which highlights bottom-up logic. Fallacies are fake or deceptive arguments, arguments that prove nothing. Fallacies often seem superficially sound, and they far too often retain immense persuasive power even after being clearly exposed as false. Bandwagon Fallacy The bandwagon fallacy is the assumption that the opinion of the majority is always valid: that is, everyone believes it, so you should too. A couple different fallacies can be included under this label, such as Ad populum fallacy:  - Latin word for “to the popularity” - Something is accepted because it’s popular.
